Looking Back: November Event

Looking back on the November event, I would say it went pretty well overall. It did not have the same level of excitement as the kit building event, but it almost felt better. If that makes sense.

One of the biggest positives was how open minded the seniors were to the plans I shared. When I explained the idea of emergency cards and the longer term plan for medical binders, people listened carefully and seemed genuinely interested. There was no sense of resistance or confusion, which I was slightly worried about beforehand.

I also noticed that the interactions felt more familiar this time. Conversations were easier, and there was a sense that I was no longer just a visitor running an event, but someone they recognized and felt comfortable talking to. That growing connection made the experience more rewarding and confirmed that showing up consistently really does matter.

Handing out the pre made kits worked well for this event. It kept things smooth and accessible, and it allowed more time for short conversations instead of focusing on logistics. But more this event made me excited for what is ahead.

Going forward, it feels clear that the next event should center fully on the emergency cards. That will be the main activity, not just something introduced briefly. The structure is starting to take shape, and I am looking forward to continuing to work with the seniors and keep building ideas that actually make a difference in their everyday lives.
